BY FLIGHT
There is an Airport in Dehradoon named “Jolly Grant Airport”. This airport is the nearest airport from Rishikesh. It is situated at approx 35Km away from Rishikesh city. Once you reach airport further you can take Cab | Taxi or Bus to reach Rishikesh easily.
Air India, Indigo and Spice Jets have regular daily flights from New Delhi. Maximum flight duration is 1 hour.
BY BUS
Regular bus service from Delhi and Dehradoon makes Rishikesh an easily reachable place. Daily bus service is from ISBT, New Delhi, Dehradoon and Haridwar. Take late evening bus and reach Rishikesh early morning.
DRIVE
By using National Highway 58, you could easily reach Rishikesh in approx 7 hours. Roads are in good condition throughout the year. If you start early or late night you would get less traffic.
IMPORTANT DO’s and DON’T’s
Rishikesh is also known as “Gateway to the Himalayas”. It is a beautiful Hill Station situated in the state of Uttrakhand.
- INR is the currency being used here. There are ATM’s available in the main city and most of the shops allow other payment modes like credit cards, debit cards etc. But it is advisable to carry cash.
- Internet / WiFi is not accessible everywhere. Though most of the resorts and Hotels provide you net access, some with bare minimum cost and some for Free. Ask for the Internet before taking any Hotel or Resorts.
- It is strictly not allowed to drink at Rishikesh and carry liquor. But Hotel Staffs on request could provide you with the same at some extra cost.
- Rishikesh in total has a very low crime rate; still, it is advisable to take care of yourself and your belongings. Avoid being alone at night at a shady place.
