For years, Rishikesh has been known for its white water rafting and spiritual experiences. Hundreds and thousands of tourists visit the place every year to experience the thrill of moving through the river and at times, even jump off a cliff. The first blow to this adventure happened a few years ago when beach camping was banned in Shivpuri after the 2013 floods in Uttarakhand.

However, one of the major setbacks for the travellers, adventure seekers and businesses running in Rishikesh, came this year after rafting was banned. The ban was implemented after an order was passed by Uttarakhand High Court in June.

However, there is nothing to worry about! You can still visit the place and try other activities. Here’s why you should still plan a trip to Rishikesh:

Bungee Jumping

When it comes to extreme adventure sports like bungee jumping, Rishikesh triumphs over any other place in India. The city has India’s highest bungee jumping point at 83 meters along with other extreme sports like giant swing and flying fox.

It is important that the security equipment is of high quality when it comes to extreme sports like these and Rishikesh is known for that level of safety. So, if you want to go extreme, make a booking today.

Cafe hopping

The small town of Rishikesh is blessed with the presence of river Ganga which flows in all its might. There are dozens of amazing cafes with different themes near the popular Laxman Jhula where you can sit and relax.

Choose a cafe with the beautiful view of the Ganges and soothing classical music to spend a perfect evening.

Jungle camping

What if the court has banned beach camping, there’s still an option of staying in beautiful jungle camps. You can enjoy the beauty and silence of the mountains and meet many interesting people in the camps.

The bonfire and music party in the evening creates memories that last long. There are a number of options from which you can choose depending upon your budget.

The white water rafting might not resume until further notice but that shouldn’t stop you from making your plans to Rishikesh.
